F1 is the world’s second most popular sport, behind soccer (known outside of America as football),It is a gigantic television event having millions of viewer around the world. The average speed of the car is usually greater than 300 Km/h. There are certain restrictions and codes that cars must meet. Cars are designed in such a way so that increasing cornering speeds are in safe ranges. Performance of cars is highly dependent on various factors like aerodynamics, electronics, suspension and tyres.
It is a high profile game and its popularity world wide makes it viable commercial.

Formula 1 generally ranks second just behind the Champions league final or if the European championships or world cup is on it comes behind that. Definitely behind soccer but afterall there are soccer leagues all over the world and hundreds of clubs. There is only one f1 and 10 teams.
