What Drives The Superiority Complex Of F1 Over Other Types Of Racing Ie Nascar?

For instance, I read often that NASCAR drivers are not talented because they race in ovals and not road courses. But old rednecks like Lake Speed who won only one NASCAR race demolished in a go cart series a great driver named Ayrton Senna. JP Montoya is a proven winner although not Schumacher and yet has struggled in stock cars. Please help me understand how F1 drivers are so vastly superior to stock car drivers in a pure talent argument. I feel that the cars in F1 are so advanced with the alloy engines, sophisticated braking systems and overall lightness, that they would be easier to drive because you can brake so much later in entering a turn etc. Center of gravity is so low that handling is not an issue whereas a stock car is like driving a sled. IMO it takes more skill to drive such an antiquated racing vehicle.

Well if the F1 cars are so sophisticated, then being off by just a little will really screw you and your team…no margin for error. They also experience much more force on their bodies through the acceleration, braking, and cornering G’s and forces. Therefore, the advanced equipment makes them harder to drive. The race tracks are harder, and the sport seems more dangerous overall. The drivers are smaller and in better physical shape as a testament to how much weight and condition matters in these cars compared to NASCAR, where someone like Jimmy Spencer can roll out the window and run straight for the hot dog cart.
All this being said though, It would take drivers from either series a long transition period into the other. Both have been doing what they do for so long that they have become great, and the change suddenly would throw a wrench into everything. Some drivers from NASCAR i feel could be successful given the seat time and transition period. An example of that would be Jeff Gordon.
A big drawback to both of them is the quality and competition of the vehicles. NASCAR has Hendrick, RCR, and Roush, while F1 this year has Ferrari, McLaren, and BMW Sauber. The gap between the quality of teams is huge, and even the best driver cannot compete in a bad machine.

It’s the same superiority complex that makes the average human not consider the feelings of an earthworm. It’s not just a complex, F1 IS superior to NASCAR in every conceivable way. Faster, lighter cars, less restrictions, more skill needed to drive the cars, sub-5 second pit stops WITH tires, and they’re not just 200mph billboards.

    NASCAR is for Americans…
F1 is for the rest of the world!!
    who wins???

Montoya is originally an Indy driver and he was nothing but a big disappointment when he came everyone thought he will beat schumi and became the new champion but he proved he’s nothing but a big mouth so IMO Montoya is not a good example. As for the answer of your question:
Formula one is the epitome of the driving art it’s just totally superior to all the other racing series, I’m talking in terms of money, talent, science and engineering
the money puted in this sports are enormous just look to the teams budget and drivers salaries .the teams spent million of dollars every year on the manufacturing and the testing of the car before racing with it .
As for the drivers: every f1 drivers, even those who never won a f1 race have won lot’s of races and titles in the other racing series but that’s mot enough cos only the best of the best can become f1 champion not to mention that winning need a combination of great skills and good car or like they say it’s about being with the right team in the right car on the right moment.
all f1 drivers have great skills even the ones who didn’t achieved anything but that’s not all the physical and psychological pressure they have to deal with is huge especially during races the g-force is huge especially in corners and let’s not forget the huge acceleration and deceleration forces and the dehydration they have to deal with during races .their body especially their neck suffer allot during races .that’s why they have to be really ,and I mean really fit or they won’t be able to finish the race (there was a race where fisichella was having some fitness problem by the end of the race he was so exhausted he couldn’t stand on his feat it was obvious and it shows to everyone the importance of being fit in f1 ) Michael Schumacher was the first one to bring that to the sport and truth is his great ship was a key factor in his results
in brief f1 is a really hard sport only few can make it there the engineers ,the mechanics the drivers every one working there is the best of the best .it’s a huge industry and no other racing sport (and dare I say sport in general ) is even close to F1

There superiority complex only brings out there lack of Class which they are so determined to prove they have.
Some people think just because something cost’s more it must be better. Perfect example is Cognac and Caviar. Two of the most repulsive things you can put in your mouth.
If dog sh*t cost $200 a piece I’m sure they’d serve it at the Plaza Hotel in New York. (which is full of old miserably uncomfortable furniture BTW)
There also ignorant to the whole concept of Stock Cars. Stock Cars are about the driver. That’s why there’s no telemetry, paddle shifters, etc. etc.
That’s also why they race in packs on Ovals. So they can actually race. Also, if your running 40 second laps, consistency is key. You know ‘right now’ if a different line is faster or slower and also what the car is doing at all times. Then they adjust to make it just a little better than the guy 2″ behind you. You can’t run a road course lap within .02 second of the last lap.
Also, Stock Car’s CAN race on an oval. F1 car’s are way to fragile to run that close. F1 driver’s have also stated there afraid of ovals because of that and the wall. They’ve said they feel safer being able to slide off into a sand trap. Funny thing is, Indy car’s aren’t afraid to do oval’s.
A Stock Car is built to replicate a production vehicle. 3400#’s and skinny tires. Period. Somehow some people think Nascar can’t build an ultra high tech car which furthers there ignorance.
I also seriously doubt any of those types know anything about car’s except where the gas goes.
Alex Zanardi failed miserably in IROC.
Steve Kinser from the World Of Outlaws failed miserably in Nascar.
Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt could win in anything.

  6. JimBob says:

The simple and real answer is MONEY!
When F1 teams spend nearly 10 times that amount that a elite NASCAR team does it should be obvious.
When they are investing that much money into their sport it leads to marketing to the higher end market. F1’s fan base is upper middle class at worse (probably higher!) and NASCAR’s fan base is middle class at best! If you got money and hang around with others that have a lot of money then you usually get a superiority complex.
I enjoy both F1 and Nascar but you need to appreciate different things when watching the two.
