It’s the first time F1 has returned to Canada since 2007. I believe they have a 5 year contract so they’ll be there for at least another 4 races after this year.
Didn’t Hamilton crash into the back of Raikkonen in 2008 in Montreal?
No. F1 doesn’t seem to want to bother with North America anymore.
Yes they are on the 2010 schedule. There was a contractual mess up last year which caused F1 to take it off which was the first time since like the early 60’s that Canada did not have a Gran Prix race. I’m not sure if i’ll make it to Montreal this year but I have been a number of times in the past. It’s a great city and a Great race.
You won’t have any problems getting a room in or around Montreal but be prepared to pay above average prices for rooms on that weekend.
It’s the weekend of the 11th to the 13th of june.
It didn’t come to Montreal every year. It started coming to Montreal from 1978 with the current track, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (then called Circuit Ile Notre-Dame). Twice the Canadian GP was not held. in 1987, the Grand Prix was called off due to the sponsorship “caterwauling” between Molson and Labatt. in 2009 the Grand Prix was called for reasons I don’t even know, I think Bernie was drinking when he made the announcement. Thankfully, the Grand Prix is coming back this year.
